Everyone wants a story about Charles in Charge.
"Whenever I would eat an apple or something similar, Scott Baio would say, 'Eeww, that stinks. Smell it.' I would, and then he'd press the apple into my nose and laugh hysterically."

You produced and starred in the award-winning short film, Lotto. So, if you won a huge lottery fortune, where in the world would you fly your friends and family for a special meal?
"Italy, for sure! I am a huge lover of Italian food. My whole family loves Italian food. I think my father must be Italian, because growing up he used to joke about how spaghetti was his favorite vegetable!"

Any food-related beauty secrets?
"I put blueberries and pomegranate juice into my protein drinks just about every day. They are excellent antioxidants. Antioxidants fight free radicals that destroy good skin cells. I also put spirulina, blue-green algae, into my protein drinks. I drink about 13 glasses of water a day. I believe inner health is very important. Our physical appearance can't help but be influenced by what we put into our bodies."

Name a candy bar that best describes you.
"I don't tend to make eating candy bars a habit. That said, I'd say a Twix Bar best describes me. I am a strong person, like the cookie, but a big softy, like the caramel, and I can be sweet like the chocolate on the outside."

Do you have lots of kitchen gadgets? If so, which are your favorites?
"I do have a number of kitchen gadgets because I love to cook. One gadget I would love to have but don't is a great automatic can opener. I use an old-fashioned manual one. It takes forever because it 'falls off the tracks' and I have to put the can back onto the opener over and over again! I still also use my mom's electric hand mixer from the 60's!"

And what's the best dish you prepare?
"Steamed Artichoke with Lemon Butter Sauce, and I'm pleased to tell your readers how to make it."

Josie's Steamed Artichoke with Butter Sauce
1 large artichoke
2 tbs melted butter (canola oil butter is preferred)
fresh lemon juice

Cut the top off the artichoke. Cut off stem and rinse in hot water. Fill a glass bowl with water until 1/3 of the artichoke is immersed. Cover the bowl with a plastic bag, tie it, and microwave for 15-30 minutes, depending on the size of the artichoke. The artichoke will steam inside the bag. To test for doneness, pull off one of the leaves. If it comes off easily, it is done. Melt butter in a small bowl and combine with lemon juice to taste. Dip and enjoy. Some people add freshly ground black pepper.
