Starline recently caught up with jovial Josie Davis and found out her secrets to happines - including how to eat right on a busy schedule! You know her as innocent but brainy Sarah Powell on the #1 syndicated hit series Charles In Charge, but her real name is Josie Davis. Born in Los Angeles, California, on January 16, 1973, 16-year-old Josie has been working as an actress since she was all of four years old. Josie told us: "I think acting must be in our blood in my family. My Mom and Dad both worked on stage and in films long before I was born. They still do And my older brother, Josh followed in their footsteps. "Josh had a part on an episode of Quincy. We were watching it at home one night and my dad pointed to my brother on the TV set and asked if I'd like to do that too. I must have answered 'yes,' because the next thing I knew, I had an agent, a headshot, and I was sitting on a bench waiting to be interviewed for a commercial." Amazingly, Josie immediately booked that commercial: a Sony commercial which, as luck would have it, her parents and brother also appeared in! At the age of thirteen, blue-eyed, blonde-haired Josie joined the cast of Charles In Charge. Her genuine, unaffected personality was a perfect match for what producer Al Burton invisioned for Sarah Powell on the hit comedy show. The same qualities have endeared Josie to millions of viewers in the three years she has worked on the series. Josie is a careful eater, who professes to follow no "established diet," but rather uses a common-sense approach to eating only wholesome, natural foods, and limiting excessive sugar. "That's my mom's influence," Josie noted. "She still works regularly as a model, even while she's running our home and putting a warn, healthful dinner on the table every night. I avoid any red meat, and only eat fish and chicken with the skin removed. No deep fried food. And lots of fruits and vegatables. Usually, when I work on our show, I'll get a salad at the nearby Carl's Jr., while everyone else is wolfing down hamburgers!" Josie also enjoys ballet, jazz, gymnastics and swimming as methods of exercise. "When I have dance class, and need an extra dose of energy, I'll eat a little bit of all-natural vanilla ice cream so I can dance of the sugar," she confesses. Poetry is another love of Josie's - both reading and writing it. She's a straight "A" student, and enjoys reading about archaelogy especially. When she's not at school, on the set or exercising, Josie likes to make use of her free time helping out at charity functions, especially those benefiting children. Recently, she has volunteered her services to Variety Club, Actors & Entertainers For Kids, Cystic Fibrosis Institute, McLaren Hall, and the March Of Dimes, to name but a few. She lives with her family in the San Fernando Valley, five minutes away from Universal Studios where her series films, and dotes on her dogs, Babe and Toughy, and cats Lilly and Ski. What a well-rounded gal! |
