Posted by Josie Davis: In 1968, after the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King Jr, a school teacher told Schutz he should create a black character in his Peanuts comic strip as an attempt to help people gain more understanding of one other. That character inspired Robb to create JUMP START, the most widely syndicated comic strip in the world! Schultz respected his work so much he named the character after Robb by naming him Franklin Armstrong.
Robb also co-wrote the Apple+ Peanuts TV special WELCOME HOME FRANKLIN.
